Holybourne Cricket Club has launched a crowdfunder campaign to ensure young and adult cricket players can keep playing beyond the coming 2024 season.

Holybourne Cricket Club is a small grass-roots club in need of urgent funds to replace its artificial wicket and build a permanent net.

The small, volunteer run club on the outskirts of Alton provides the local community and surrounding villages with outstanding cricket coaching and development throughout the year. The grounds and facilities are also used to support local schools and organisations, and our clubhouse is a popular social venue throughout the summer.

The most urgent need is for a new artificial wicket - the current one will only last the coming season, which starts with youth training on the evening of Friday 19 April.

Last year, a few of our members unearthed where two permanent cricket nets used to stand. If successful in our fundraising, we would also love to install at least one, if not two permanent cricket nets (every other local cricket club has one, and it's a vital part of coaching and development).

The aim of the Crowdfunder campaign - follow this link to our official crowdfunder website - is to raise £10,000 without increasing the annual membership fees, in keeping with the club's inclusive ethos.

Many local businesses have already kindly pledged their support, including Holybourne Shop & Post Office, The White Hart, Town and Country Garage, Holybourne, The Workshop, Alton, Dummer Down Farm and Dummer Down Brewery and Sarah Forbes physiotherapy.

Generous individual donations are also already coming in, helping us on our way to saving the future of our amazing local club. Aside from benefiting our members, our campaign will support local schools and organisations that use our grounds and facilities.

Mindful of the financial hardships many are now faced with, we want to continue making cricket as accessible and affordable to as many as possible. This means not increasing our annual membership fees, and continuing to reward our members with discounted food and drinks via our clubhouse.

So, if you're able to support the crowdfunder campaign and keep Holybourne CC alive, please follow this link to our official crowdfunder website to make a financial contribution - however big or small - or grab a reward from one of our fabulous local businesses. Thank you!
